Rita has over 18 years’ experience covering Trusteeship, Legal Advisory, Company Secretariat, Compliance, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking and Project Finance.

Prior to joining Afrinvest Trustees Limited in October 2020 as the Managing Director, she worked  as the Head, Legal Adviser & Compliance, Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited from April 2015 – September 2020. In addition, she worked at CardinalStone Partners Limited as the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser from 2012 to 2015. She also gained considerable professional experience working within the Corporate and CommercialDepartments of various Law Firms within Nigeria.

She is currently the Managing Director of FCMB Trustees Limited where she is responsible for driving the Firm’s strategic initiatives and achieving Company’s set objectives and goals. Rita is also responsible for senior oversight over the Company’s day-to-day activities as well as provide leadership and management of the activities of all units in the Company.

Rita is a graduate of the University of Ilorin with a LL.B degree in Law, BL from the Nigerian Law School and LL.M from the University of Lagos. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria and a Member of the Compliance Institute of Nigeria. She is a graduate of the Senior Management programme of the Lagos Business School.

Rita has also received several prominent awards. She was recognised as one of the Nigerian Rising Star in the ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards, 2019 under the 40 under 40 category. She was also listed in the prestigious GC Powerlist Nigeria 2024, published by THE LEGAL 500 on February 22, 2024. In 2025, she was an awardee in the Distinguished & Finest General Counsel of the Year category at the 2nd Annual Legal Era Africa Law Awards 2025
